Northumberland

It’s a place where you can choose to be surrounded by people, shops and bars, or get away from it all and unwind in the remote and breathtaking scenery. This county offers mountain areas, beach areas, city areas, and much more. Activities include cycling, hiking, scuba diving, and kite surfing. To really unwind and enjoy a sense of vastness that takes over the senses, a visit to the Northumberland Dark Sky Park is a must. It is the largest area of totally dark sky in Europe and has an observatory that allows you to see the stars in a unique way. Some of Northumberland’s most notable towns include Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where you can enjoy the sunset on the riverbank; Alnwick, where you can visit castles and learn about their history; and Bamburgh, where you can enjoy the beach and the views, as well as the wildlife.
