Brighton, the UK’s most popular seaside resort, has plenty of things to do and see. From the Royal Pavilion to Brighton Pier, you’ll never run out of fun activities in this lively city. Here are my top picks for a day out in Brighton:
Visit the Royal Pavilion
The Royal Pavilion is a former royal palace, built in the Indo-Saracenic style. It was built in the early 19th century as a retreat for King George IV and is now open to the public as a popular tourist attraction.
The Pavilion was designed by John Nash (who also designed Regent Street) and built at great expense to accommodate George IV’s elaborate lifestyle while he recovered from illness in Brighton. The building contains many rooms decorated with Chinese themes, including one room that has been recreated to look like an Indian palace! The most famous feature of this stunning structure is its “Chinese pagoda”, which can be seen from miles away on its hilltop location overlooking Brighton Beach
Walk along the Pier and have lunch there
The pier is a great place to walk. There are lots of restaurants and cafes, so you can have lunch at one of them. The pier is also good for people watching, with many young families enjoying the warm summer weather and taking in the sea air. If you’re looking for something more romantic than eating on Brighton Pier, try strolling along its length hand-in-hand with your partner or loved one (or both). You’ll get some stunning views along the way!
If you’re traveling with children and want somewhere safe for them to play while you enjoy lunch in peace without having to keep an eye on them all the time, then this might be just what you’re looking for too – there’s plenty going on here that will keep kids entertained while giving mum or dad some time out from parenting duties!
See a show at the Theatre Royal
- The Theatre Royal is one of the oldest theatres in the world and has hosted many famous actors, including John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh.
- The theatre has a capacity of 2,200 people.
Shop in the Lanes or All Saints Street Market
The Lanes is a very popular shopping street, so you’ll be able to find everything from high-end designers to vintage stores. If you’re looking for something more unique and local, check out All Saints Street Market.
There are many other shops in Brighton that you could visit as well!
Enjoy a drink on one of Brighton’s rooftop bars
A rooftop bar is the perfect place to enjoy a drink, watch the sunset and meet new people. Brighton’s rooftop bars have some of the best views in town so if you want to escape the crowds then this is one way to do it!
Brighton is a great place to visit.
Brighton is a great place to visit. There are lots of things to do in Brighton, and it’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway with friends or family. If you’re planning your first trip there, here are some suggestions:
- See the sights! The Royal Pavilion has been restored and is open to the public; it’s one of England’s most beautiful buildings. You can also go shopping on The Lanes or take a ride on one of Brighton’s famous trams while they’re still running (they will stop soon).
- Take advantage of all that nature has to offer–the beachfront is just as beautiful as its reputation suggests! Pack your bathing suit so you can swim in Victoria Gardens’ heated outdoor pool after spending time at their restaurant where they serve up delicious food made from locally sourced ingredients year round.
We hope you enjoyed our list of things to do in Brighton. It’s a great city, with lots of history and culture, so we think it’s worth visiting. If you have any questions or comments about this post, please leave them below!
